The East Greenbush CSD Board of Education adopted a budget for the 2011-2012 school year at its April 13th Board meeting. The budget totals $84,730,093 and represents a 0.52 percent reduction in spending from the current year’s budget. Despite school officials cutting spending, the 2011-2012 budget carries a 2.8 percent tax levy increase, due largely to a $4.7 million loss in NY State operating aid.

Tax Relief...who knew?

Beginning April 1, 2011, we won't pay state sales tax on clothing and shoes that cost $55 or less, for the next year. No fooling!

The State of New York will once again exempt its share of sales tax (4%) on clothing and shoes. This exemption will apply to items under $55 in value until April 1, 2012, when it will apply to clothing and shoes under $110.

A majority of lawmakers lifted the clothing tax exemption last fall to help close the state's budget gap.
