WWII Veteran Denied Leave from His Nursing Home to Attend D-Day Celebration Makes a Great Escape

If the Nazis couldn't stop Bernard Jordan,the nursing home had no chances against this resourceful man.

WWII veteran Bernard Jordan of Britain’s Royal Navy was refused leave to attend the D-Day 70th anniversary celebrations in Normandy. So he escaped from his nursing home in England and traveled to the event without notifying the authorities.
The staff at the nursing home, The Pines Care Home, called the police and reported him missing.

Jordan had tried to attend the official trip that was being put together by the Royal Legion, Britain’s veterans organization, but there were no spots available.
