Jeffrey P. Simons arrived from the Rome school district where he was superintendent for nine years. He was appointed by the Board of Education in March to a three-year term and will earn $177,500 annually.

Former Superintendent Angela Nagle claimed four male school board members harassed her and retaliated over her pregnancy. She filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission last year. The district at the time said Nagle's accusations were "erroneous and misleading."

Nagle served as superintendent for eight years and earned $194,931 in 2014.
