Cancellations & postponements due to Hurricane Irene

Due to impending impact from Hurricane Irene, several area events are, or are expected to be, cancelled or rescheduled.

Sunday’s American Idol Live! concert at the Times Union Center has been postponed. The show is rescheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 4. Tickets purchased for the original show will be honored.
And, for the first time ever, a performance at Tanglewood has been cancelled.

Here is information we’ve received regarding other regional events and services. Updated posts (as of 11 a.m. Saturday) are in in bold:
  • Albany International Airport will remain open Sunday. However, according to officials, travelers should be advised to anticipate flight cancellations and delays to and from destinations.
  • Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the BSO’s last concert of the 2011 Tanglewood season, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday has been cancelled. Refunds of your tickets will be issued. If you paid by credit card, you will receive a credit. Organizers will mail you a check if you paid by cash or check. For information, call (617) 638-9395 or visit http://www.bso.org.
  • RPI has cancelled classes on Monday, the first full day of classes for the fall semester. This will allow those students and families who might have been traveling here on Sunday, at the height of the storm, to make alternate plans. Classes will begn Tuesday.
  • Organizers of the Washington County Fair have announced that the fair will not open Sunday.
  • Yankee Trails World Travel has announced various schedule changes resulting from the pending storm. Those tours being affected are scheduled to take place Saturday thru Monday, and include cruises from New York, casino tours and a trip to Citi Field for the Alanta Braves vs. New York Mets game.   • The Albany Aqua Ducks & Trolleys have canceled regularly scheduled tours on Sunday. Those who had reservations should call 462-3825 or email info@albanyaquaducks.com.
  • The Round Lake Village authorities  have cancelled the Sunday night performance at the Round Lake Auditorium. The Monday matinee performance is  still pending, but if you plan to attend, you might check with the Round Lake Village office Monday morning to confirm: (518) 899 2800.
  • The National Museum of Racing & Hall of Fame on Union Avenue in Saratoga Springs will be closed all day Sunday (still no word on whether or not horses will run at the Saratoga Race Course).
  • The Sage Colleges  have cancelled all classes Monday.  Classes will resume with Tuesday classes at their normal times. Move-in for returning resident students has also been postponed until Monday. Student who you live within one hour of the Sage campus, can/should return home — we recommend by Saturday afternoon — but if you opt to stay on campus,  preparations will be in place. Staff and administrators are asked to return to business as usual on Monday.  All members of the Sage community are encouraged to watch for e-mails from 1global@sage.edu with information and updates.
  • The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom will be closed Sunday, reopening Monday.
  • The Norman Rockwell Museum will be closed this Sunday. For up-to-date information on the Museum’s weekend’s hours, visitors can call (413) 298-4100
