Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen Jimino has declared a state of emergency for Rensselaer County due to the severe weather.
Residents are urged to use extreme caution if traveling is necessary. Heavy icing has brought trees down and caused widespread power outages.
An emergency operations center has been established to help coordinate emergency services. Those in need of assistance are encouraged to use 911 for emergencies and to call 270-5252 for non emergencies.
