Communities collect drugs for 'Take Back Day'

A number of communities around the region are hosting a "Drug Take Back Day" on Saturday.

The US Drug Enforcement Administration is encouraging residents to safely dispose of unwanted or unused prescription drugs.
Studies show a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends.
In addition, unused medications flushed down the toilet or poured down the sink can enter the water supply, harming fish and other wildlife and posing a potential risk to people. No hazardous waste, such as used needles or illegal drugs will be accepted.
They can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  on Saturday, April 30 at:
  • Crossgates Mall, overflow lot across from Borders and Ruby Tuesday's
  • East Greenbush Police Department, 225 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer
