School Systems Robbery - and the get-away bike

NORTH GREENBUSH — Police arrested a 37-year-old Rensselaer woman for robbing the Schools System Federal Credit Union on Defreest Drive Wednesday and getting away on a bicycle.

Jessica E. Thompson, of Seventh Avenue, stands charged with robbery, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.

Police said she showed up at the credit union shortly before 4 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding money. After getting an undisclosed amount of money, she took off on a silver mountain bike. Police believe she was picked up and the investigation is continuing.

“The New York State BCI and North Greenbush police followed several leads on Wednesday evening that led them to this arrest. Great cooperation amongst the agencies and good police work are the ingredients that led to this arrest,” said North Greenbush Police Chief Rocco M. Fragomeni. “At this time we will not be discussing the motive until all the leads have been followed and other persons of interest are located and interviewed.”
