WHAT: Dedication Ceremony for the “Ruth Spieske Reading Nook”
WHO: Castleton Public Library Board of Trustees, Director and Staff
WHEN: Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Castleton Public Library, 85 South Main St., Castleton on Hudson, N.Y.
BACKGROUND: Ruth Spieske (1908-2007), a long-time resident of the Village of Castleton on Hudson, bequeathed a substantial donation to the Castleton Public Library. Mrs. Spieske, a former educator in the Castleton Union School and Schodack Central School System was passionate about her local library. She served for many decades on the Library Board of Trustees. In honor of her commitment to the Library, the current Board of Trustees decided to honor her with dedicating a portion of the library in her name. The “Ruth Spieske Reading Nook” has been created to be a comfortable and inviting section of the library where patrons can enjoy their own passion for reading. The dedication is open to the public.
