More heat and humidity expected Wednesday

Heavy rains and wind knocked out power to 20,000 National Grid customers, with Rensselaer and Saratoga counties appearing to take the brunt of a nasty Tuesday afternoon storm that came with tornado threats and reports of large-scale flooding.
Some 8,918 customers in Rensselaer County lost electricity, according to National Grid, which also said that, 8,880 homes and businesses in Saratoga County, nearly 2,000 in Schenectady County and 977 in Albany County had no power at around 6:30 p.m. The outages were listed on the power company’s website. Power in Renselaer County is estimated to be restored around 9 p.m.
