KINDERHOOK, NY – State Police at Livingston arrested a man on Friday for
robbing the Xtra Mart gas station in Kinderhook.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., Troopers and Investigators from the
SP Livingston Barracks responded to a 911 call for an armed robbery that had
just occurred at the Xtra Mart gas station located on State Route 9 in the Town
of Kinderhook.
The overnight clerk advised that a masked subject entered the store,
displayed a handgun and demanded money.
In addition to the money, the subject stole a
substantial amount of New York State Lottery scratch off tickets, cigarettes,
and beer.
A subsequent investigation conducted by the New York
State Police at Livingston, the New York State Police at SP Schodack – Troop G,
and the Columbia County District Attorney's Office led to the arrest of 21-year-old
Jordan Couitt, of Schodack.
Couitt was charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd,
class C Violent Felonies.
During the interview of Couitt, he admitted to committing a previous armed
robbery at the Xtra Mart in May during which cash was forcibly
stolen.
Couitt was arraigned on the two violent felonies in
the Town of Kinderhook Court by Judge David Dellehunt, who remanded Couitt
to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $500.00 cash bail to reappear on a
later date.
