Snow Emergencies


Current snow emergencies in the area

CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. - Compiled below is a list of current snow emergencies around the area.
The list will be updated as our station becomes aware of new emergencies:
  • The Village of Castleton on Hudson has issued a snow emergency from 6:00 p.m. December 26th to 6:00 p.m. December 27th. Residents must begin following all snow emergency signs at these times.
  • The Town of Schodack has issued a snow emergency beginning on the 26th at 8:00 p.m. and ending at 8:00 p.m. on December 27th. There will be no on street parking during these times. Residents are to follow all snow emergency signs at these times.
  • The Town of Greenport has declared a snow emergency starting at 12:00 a.m., December 27th, lasting until 12:00 a.m. December 28th. There will be no parking on any street. Cars parked on the streets during this time will be ticketed and towed.
  • The Town of Waterford Highway Department has declared a snow emergency starting at 12:00 a.m., December 27th, until further notice. Residents must begin following all snow emergency signs at that time.
  • The City of Mechanicville has issued a snow emergency beginning at 9:00 p.m. on the 26th. Even parking will be allowed for the first 24 hours and then it switches to odd side parking allowance.
  • The Village of Athens has issued a snow emergency effective at 7:00 p.m. on December 26th. All snow emergency laws will be in effect until further notice.
  • The Village of Catskill has issued a snow emergency effective at 8:00 p.m. on December 26th. All vehicles should be parked on the odd side of village streets from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. at which point vehicles should be moved to the even side of the street. Vehicles should continue to switch sides of the street every twelve hours, until the snow emergency has been cancelled. Effective also this evening, there will be no parking on Main Street from Greene Street to Summit Avenue beginning at 8:00 p.m., to ensure that Main Street is one of the first streets cleared of snow. Residents who usually park on Main Street should utilize the municipal parking lots.
  • The Town of East Greenbush has declared a snow emergency effective at 10:00 p.m. on the 26th. Vehicles are prohibited from parking on any public street during the snow emergency. Vehicles in violation will be subject to ticketing and towing. The emergency will continue until the storm is over and all streets have been cleared.
  • The City of Schenectady is preparing to deal with the impending snow storm that has been forecast for this area. In order to facilitate the most efficient snow removal, all vehicles must be moved off the City's 16 Priority Streets as posted on the streets, which are listed below, once the snowfall reaches 3-inches.
