Albany, NY – On Friday, February 8th, from 5:30 - 8pm, Glennpeter Jewelers will open its doors and heart to STRIDE Adaptive Sports and local Wounded Warriors. Now in its eighth year the Wounded Warrior Snowfest, hosted by STRIDE
Adaptive Sports welcomes 20 injured and/or permanently disabled service members and their families to enjoy a weekend of learning to ski and snowboard and camaraderie with other Warriors. Glennpeter Jewelers will donate 20% of all sales this evening to STRIDE’s Wounded Warrior Programs, so come and get your Valentine’s Day gifts and support STRIDE! Enjoy a complimentary hot and cold buffet and refreshments sponsored by Jeff Weiss and Glennpeter Jewelers.
The attending military heroes have made a huge sacrifice for our country and deserve much appreciation and support. The event will be a tremendous opportunity for Capital District residents to come out to support returning service members from our community.  The STRIDE Adaptive Snowsports program at Jiminy Peak, with 75 volunteer instructors, are professionally trained to offer adaptive ski and snowboard lessons to individuals with a variety of abilities including blind skiers, paralyzed skiers,  traumatic brain injury and PTSD. The special guests will be treated to lodging at the mountain, coaster rides, entertainment, and given all their gear for the weekend, as appreciation from our community. The weekend costs to STRIDE are nearly $40,000, and community support is critical for success.
Also open to the public is STRIDE’s Wounded Warrior Snowfest Welcome Banquet, held at the Troy Hilton Garden Inn on March 8th from 6-10 pm as a kick-off to the Snowsfest weekend. Dinner reservations are required. For more information about how you can support local Wounded Warriors visit www.stride.org or contact the STRIDE office.
