Niece: Body found in Schenectady is missing MaryWright Updated: Sunday, July 7 2013, 11:29 PM EDTSCHENECTADY - Speaking through tears, Sabrina Torres told CBS6 News the body foundon Albany Street today is that of her 68-year-old aunt, Mary A. Wright, whom police said was found to be missing from her home around3 a.m. on June 28.
Torres said the family identified her body around 3:30p.m. According to Torres, a man who lives near the area where the body was found - near Albany Street and Bradford Road - cleaned his garbage
can Saturday, believing it to be the source of a foul odor. Torres says
when the odor intensified Sunday morning the man called police. She
says it appears her aunt may have been seeking shelter in an abandoned
structure. Torres says police photographed the clothing on the body then
showed the pictures to Wright's family, who confirmed they belong to
the missing woman. Torres said they assume Wright's medical problems
led to her death. Police Lt. Mark McCracken said police are awaiting
autopsy results. Wright had diabetes. He niece said she had gone without
insulin and presumably without food and water. She also had
Alzheimer's disease. Police said last weekend Wright had wandered away
from her home. The search for her included combing the woods near her
home and state police divers going into the ponds in Vale Park.
