HOWES CAVE - In Schoharie County, the owners of an all-ready-well-known tourist attraction say they're now a step closer to building a casino on their "above ground" property.
After the Schoharie County Board of Supervisors voted 13-3 on Friday to support a casino development, the owners of Howe Caverns say they're looking forward to taking that gamble.
For nearly a century, thrill seekers have been finding adventure in the underground passages of Howe Caverns, but in the next century and beyond, they're hoping tourists will flock to the 330 above ground acres for gambling and entertainment.
"My feelings have been the same," said Chris Tague, part of the Howe Caverns Development Corportation team that wants to build a casino in Schoharie County, "If you build it, they will come!"
