ALBANY, NY (August 18, 2014) — Eastwyck Village in North Greenbush (1720 Best Road) will host a “Love It or Leave It: Downsizing & Moving for Seniors” seminar on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m.
The seminar is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Please call 518-874-1638 to reserve a seat. Light refreshments will be served.
Helen Volk, founder and president of “Beyond Clutter,” will present. Volk will cover topics such as starting the downsizing process, learning how to deal with a life of sentimental items, donating unwanted items and preparing a house for sale.
“Downsizing can be a daunting and time-consuming process because there’s a lot of decision making involved,” said Adam DeSantis, director of community relations at Eastwyck Village. “We encourage those considering moving to an independent living community to begin the process up to a year in advance because in addition to putting a house on the market there are manypossessions that need to be sorted through.”
Volk is a certified teacher, author, motivational speaker and licensed attorney who practiced law for 17 years before founding Beyond Clutter in 1991. A former pack rat, Volk now lives clutter-free and her story of transition serves as an inspiration to her students and clients. Volk has authored eight de-clutter books, including Downsizing for Seniors.
