A tanker truck roll-over has shut down part of the eastbound New York Thruway Saturday morning near the B-1 exit on I-90, according to New York State Police.
The truck, which rolled over shortly before 9 a.m., has shut down both eastbound lanes of the I-90 New York Thruway Berkshire Connector from exit 21A on I-87 to Exit B2, according to Thruway Spokesman Dan Weiller. The section is expected to remain closed until mid-afternoon.
The closure comes from the tanker leaking fluid onto the roadway, police said. The truck driver was injured during the rollover, but Rensselaer Public Safety said it was not serious. No other cars were involved in the accident.
It is unclear what is leaking from the tanker, butDepartment of Environmental Conservationspill response is on the scene. DEC could not be immediately reached for comment.
Weiller said they are advising eastbound travelers to use exit 24, follow I-90 to exit 11 and then follow U.S. Route 20 to NY Route 22 south to access I-90 eastbound again at exit B-3.
At this time, police said it is unclear what caused the accident and are still investigating.
