Police say a corrections officer was killed during a violent collision on Interstate-90 in Rensselaer County.
It happened at a time when the roads were extremely slippery, around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

They say James Davis was driving a 4-door sedan when it collided with a FedEx tandem truck.

The crash happened on the westbound lane of I-90 near exit 9.

Police say the 22-year-old Albany man was heading home from work at the time of the crash.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Christian Miranda, of New Jersey, was not injured.

There was snow and sleet on the road at the time of the crash. Police are still investigating but believe the conditions played a role in the crash.
