An RPI freshman is credited with saving passengers on a runaway Amtrak train.

As NewsChannel 13 reported on Wednesday evening, two train cars separated shortly after departure from Rensselaer to New York City. Reuben Clarke was a passenger on that train.

The offensive lineman for the RPI football team says he felt the train getting wobbly and noticed sparks flying from below.

That's when he leaped forward and pulled the emergency brake right before the incident, preventing a possible disaster.

The team's head coach praised Clarke's behavior, saying he's not surprised he jumped into action.
