Navy Master Chief Mineman Gelnn Niemitalo of East Greenbush has received a Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in the Afghanistan war. Niemitalo also received a Navy Combat Action Ribbon, an Army Combat Action Badge and a NATO International Security Assistance Force Medal.

Roy McDonald says Yes
The Capitol media Twitter feeds erupted late this afternoon with news that state Senator Roy McDonald who represents Renssealer County and most of Saratoga County, will vote yes on the bill that would legalize same-sex marriage. That brings that vote count in favor to 31 (one short of a majority).
Same-sex marriage is one vote away from being approved in New York after Republican Senator Roy McDonald became the second GOP lawmaker to announce his support of the marriage equality bill.
