Two in custody in connection with burglaries across the region

Two career criminals, one of them a convicted murderer, were arrested Thursday after one of them allegedly tried to run down a state police investigator as he tried to get away. 
Troopers caught the two, allegedly red-handed, burglarizing a remote home in Schodack.

 

Politics slows gay marriage vote

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Conflicting interests and political maneuvering threatened to stall a vote in New York on whether to legalize gay marriage, viewed by advocates and opponents alike as a pivotal moment in the years-long debate.





‘He’s got a vote from me’

The 32-year-old Troy woman is expecting her first child in August, being carried by her new wife, Curran Saile. The pair married earlier this month — out of state. Roy McDonald, a Saratoga Republican, on Tuesday became the 31st senator to declare his support for legalizing same-sex marriage.


 

Cops to hold blanket DWI patrol

Police in Albany County are looking for people who drink and drive. 
A "happy hour stop DWI" blanket patrol is in effect for Thursday and Friday night.
State Police and the Albany County Sheriff's Department are conducting the patrol.

Weiner resigns in wake of sexting scandal

NEW YORK (AP) - Seared by scandal, New York Rep. Anthony Weiner announced his resignation from Congress on Thursday, done in by lewd photos he took of himself, sent to women online and then adamantly lied about after being caught.

Roy McDonald says Yes



The Capitol media Twitter feeds erupted late this afternoon with news that state Senator Roy McDonald who represents Renssealer County and most of Saratoga County, will vote yes on the bill that would legalize same-sex marriage. That brings that vote count in favor to 31 (one short of a majority). 

Same-sex marriage is one vote away from being approved in New York after Republican Senator Roy McDonald became the second GOP lawmaker to announce his support of the marriage equality bill.
