Cops: Two drug rings busted in East Greenbush

Two men, one from Troy, the other from Averill Park, were charged with selling heroin in southern portions of Rensselaer County. Three men and two women were charged with selling prescription drugs, mainly Oxycodone, in the same area. Police said the operations were not related, but were both based in town.
"Everything just unfolded at the same time," said East Greenbush Police Chief Christopher Lavin.
EAST GREENBUSH — After more than a month of surveillance, police busted two alleged small-scale drug rings Monday night and Tuesday morning, resulting in seven arrests.
Both investigations began earlier this spring. The arrests were made late Monday night and early Tuesday morning, the chief said.
Frank Ingoldsby, 45, of 1st Street, Troy, and Jacob Quickenton, 20, of Drumough Road, Averill Park, both allegedly ran the heroin ring.
No drugs were seized from either suspect, but Quickenton's car, which was allegedly used to transport the drugs, is being held as evidence, Lavin said.
Both suspects were arraigned in town court, sent to Rensselaer County jail after failing to pay bail and are scheduled to appear in county court Tuesday afternoon.
Rensselaer City Police assisted in that investigation.
The Oxycodone ring was allegedly run by Vincent Tagliento, 23, of Consaul Road, Colonie; Michael Lasher, 39, and his wife, Junann Lasher, 37, of New Jersey Avenue, East Greenbush; Amanda Konitski, 23, of Arcadia Court, Albany; and David Spenziero, 48, of Spruce Street, Rensselaer.
All five suspects were charged with criminal possession of a controlled narcotic with intent to sell and conspiracy. Each of them allegedly were observed selling Oxycodone, a powerful painkiller with side effects similar to heroin. All five of the suspects had their vehicles seized as well. They were all arraigned in town court and sent to Rensselaer County jail after failing to post $10,000 bail. All five suspects are scheduled to reappear in town court Thursday.
The Drug Enforcement Agency assisted in that investigation.
Though both operations were small, Lavin said the trend was troubling.
"This is how the drugs get into the hands of young kids," the chief said.
