Man charged in 'Railroad Puppies' case found with unattended dogs in U-Haul

COLONIE, N.Y. – Anthony Walker, 30, who was recently charged with abandonment of a disabled animal in association with the "Railroad Puppies" case out of Albany, has just been arrested on secondary animal cruelty charges, according to Lieutenant Winn of the Colonie Police.
Police report that Walker, believed to have been displaced from his Albany home and temporarily staying at the Super 8 Motel at 1579 Central Avenue, was found to have been keeping dogs, in poor health, in the back of a cold U-Haul truck during deplorable weather conditions, in the motel's parking lot.
The dogs, discovered on Saturday night, were taken to the Capital District Animal Emergency Clinic, after having been left unattended in the cold U-Haul for an unknown extent of time, according to Winn.
Walker has been charged with four counts of torturing and injuring animals, for this incident alone. Walker has also been charged with abandonment of a disabled animal in connection with the "Railroad Puppies."
The "Railroad Puppies" were found by railroad workers, apparently nailed by their paws to railroad tracks at North Pearl Street in Albany on September 8th of 2012. Two of the puppies were adopted by local families in early December; the third died from her severe condition.
All three puppies had severe injuries to their paws when found. Pearl had two digits removed from her paw and Hudson's rear left paw was completely removed and has since been replaced with a prosthetic one.
Walker was arraigned on Saturday night and is being held in Albany County Correctional.
