NASSAU – One young woman has died and another is in serious condition after their vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, struck a guard rail, flew down an embankment and flipped over on Route 20 early Saturday, state police said.

The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Marian Hubbard, of West Sand Lake, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Police said that Marian Hubbard's 2001 Isuzu was eastbound on Route 20 around 2 a.m. when it crossed into westbound traffic and barreled over the north shoulder of the roadway and overturned. Alicia Hubbard, 18, sitting in the back seat, was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car then continued down the embankment and overturned several more times, ejecting Marian Hubbard and her front seat passenger, Nicole Hubbard, 19.
Marian and Nicole Hubbard were transported to Albany Medical Center. Marian is listed in serious condition; no information was available on Nicole's condition. Police said both women are expected to survive. Neither Marian nor Alicia were wearing seatbelts, police said.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.
