Perfect Ten makes 1,500 masks to give away

HUDSON – Since the beginning of April, Perfect Ten Afterschool Program’s team of three has made more than 1,500 cloth face masks and distributed them for free across the county. The sewing operation continues to meet the ongoing demand.

“We started making masks for the girls and their families, but within days we were fielding requests from other organizations as well as hundreds of individuals,” said Perfect Ten Director Tina Dipper in a press release. From the start, we wanted to offer them free of charge because we are committed to helping the Hudson community.

April is all about Trout

The shelves may not be stocked but the streams are.
April is trout stocking month around Columbia County. The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and County Federated Sportsmen have teamed up for the annual DEC Region 4 stocking of rainbow and brown trout. Jackson Moon poses with a 13-inch brown trout, which he later released, along the Claverack Creek, Saturday, April 18.

Gone fishing!

‘Tis the season. The month of April in New York brings the opening of trout fishing season. In this unique time, fishing seems like a good way to be outside and also far away from other people. Alianna Borgos was fishing with Ariel Soler and her father Angel Borgos. They came down from Defreestville to this beautiful favored fishing spot on the Kinderhook Creek north of Malden Bridge. Angel is a member of Trout Unlimited, but he wasn’t fishing on Monday because with government offices closed, he was unable to get a license for himself. His job was to keep the lines untangled.
