Public Notice: organizational meeting

Public notice to Schodack and Nassau residents,
Plans call for the 36-inch, pressurized pipeline to travel east from Wright in an existing Kinder Morgan right of way through Knox, Berne, New Scotland and Bethlehem, before crossing beneath the Hudson River at Schodack, Rensselaer County. TU 3/27
On Thursday, 4/2/15 at 7 PM, I am holding another organizational meeting in regards to opposition to the proposed NED pipeline and compressor station in our towns.

It will be held at the Senior center for the aging on rte 150 on the right just north of the intersection of Rt 20 and 150 if going north. Feel free to invite friends and neighbors. The past meeting we discussed our concerns about the pipeline, a general plan for upcoming public meetings, informing the public and voicing our opposition to our government leaders.

Our last meeting was a success with about 30+ in attendance. This time, we will work on forming smaller committees to address specific tasks, planning our strategy for the upcoming Kinder Morgan meeting April 13 at Green Meadow school 6-8 PM, sign letters to our elected officials and have an informational letter to distribute to Schodack residents. We also need to start planning our public forum on 5/5 /15 and how we will organize help with this meeting.

Thank you,
Lisa and Bill Zimmerman

Government Attacks Small Family Farm in Schenectady County New York

Unexpected Dangers of Farming
by FUSSYlittleBlog

Remember how I said I wanted to get more involved with local farms this year? Well, I guess it pays to be careful with your wishes.

A few weeks ago I met Joshua Rockwood for the first time at Bella Napoli in Latham. He’s the owner of West Wind Acres, a small but growing farm on the edge of Schenectady County in the town of West Charlton. Josh didn’t grow up a farmer. He has a background in construction, but he has gotten into farming for all the right reasons.

It’s a long story, and you can read the whole thing on his blog.
