    Democrats and Republicans emerged from meetings with Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo and said there was progress toward proposed additional religious protections that could bring the bill to the Senate floor for a vote. No deal had been struck as of Wednesday afternoon...

    Rabid kitten found in Wynantskill
    Officials reminded residents to keep their pets' rabies vaccinations up-to-date. Anyone who has come in contact with or taken in a kitten from this area between June 10 and 16 should immediately contact the Rensselaer County Department of Health.

    Motorcyclist in critical condition after crash

    NORTH GREENBUSH - A motorcyclist is in critical condition after a collision with a car Tuesday night in front of 99 North Greenbush Road, town police said.


    Billboard Boondoggle
    A $1.2 million federal highway program that sent employees on a 17-day globe-trotting journey to photograph different billboards was suspended Tuesday.

    Senators and Cuomo aides were still haggling over language strengthening exemptions for religious institutions, as well as the details of the tax cap and rent regulations. But the governor was optimistic as he announced the progress Tuesday evening.
