Suicide Prevention

MY VIEW: Help save a life by reaching out to our veterans
By Mary Jo Gibson
Kinderhook

First and foremost, I’d like to thank our men and women in uniform, our nation’s veterans, and their families for their service and heroic sacrifice to our country. As a co-chair of the Congressional Spouses for Suicide Prevention and Education and a spouse of a retired soldier, I’m taking the opportunity this Veterans Day to join the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in raising awareness of the problem of suicide among our active military, veterans, and their families.

Website Helps Community Follow Planning Process for Future of Schodack Schools

To help our community follow the planning study that is looking at the future of our school buildings, a website has been created which is available by clicking here…

“I would like to thank everyone who participated in our Educational Summit,” said Superintendent Bob Horan. “Over the next couple weeks our educational planner and architect will meet with faculty and staff from each of our school buildings to share our community’s ideas from the Summit and listen to their thoughts. We will bring our community committee back together after that for further discussions, which anyone in our community is encouraged to attend.” If you have questions about the study, please call the district office at 732-2297. Posted 10/18/13.

The Schodack Board of Education met October 17, 2013, to discuss findings from the Community Education Summit held in September. The Board set a framework for the planning study looking at the future of our school buildings.

The results of all of these studies will be released at a public meeting in late November.
