STRIDE Adaptive Sports celebrating Olympic Day with
“Strides 4 STRIDE” 5K & 2.5K Run, Walk ‘n’ Roll

Event to feature U.S. Paralympian Kim Seevers

ALBANY, NY – The spirit of the Olympic Movement will roll into Albany, as STRIDE Adaptive Sports hosts a 5K & 2.5K Run, Walk ‘n’ Roll combined event in celebration of Olympic Day.

On Saturday, June 21st, the 5th annual “Strides 4 STRIDE” event will kick off at 9am with a 5K race starting at Albany’s Jennings Landing Ampitheatre and leading participants down a fast, flat course through the Corning Preserve riverfront. Chip timing will be provided by ARE Event Productions. At 10am, athletes, family, friends, and community members will join together for a 2.5K community walk ‘n’ wheelchair roll awareness demonstration, promoting healthy, active lifestyles, regardless of disability. This family-friendly event also includes a 400-meter tot run (5 yrs. or less), a bouncy house, free chair massages, and fun activities with Sparky the Clown and Goofball, including face-painting, temporary tattoos, and balloon making.

Adaptive Snowsports Race for Athletes with Disabilities hosted at Jiminy Peak

(Hancock, Ma) Seventy-five disabled ski racers from across the Northeastern states will participate in STRIDE’s 18th Annual “Great Race / Diana Golden Mills Cup Level I Adaptive Race” held on Saturday morning, March 16th, 2013 at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Hancock, MA.

Eighteen Regional Wounded Warriors Participate in Adaptive Sports Weekend at Jiminy Peak
Welcome Ceremony for Warriors hosted by STRIDE

Troy, NYOn Friday, March 8th, STRIDE Adaptive Sports will welcome 18 Wounded Warriors and families who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan having sustained serious permanent injuries. They will spend a three day weekend with the STRIDE team of instructors at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort learning how to adaptive ski and snowboard.  Most of the participants are from New York State Transition units, having recently returned with medical trauma; several from Fort Drum, NY, home of the 10th Mountain Division. Five alumni Warriors will be invited back in mentorship role to the new Warriors to assist through the overwhelming experience.

First Camping Weekend for kids with Disabilities at Chatham’s new SCORE Center

(Chatham, NY)  STRIDE Adaptive Sports, an organization serving individuals with disabilities for 27 years, successfully hosted their first tent-camping trip this past weekend at our new facility – SCORE Center (STRIDE Center for Outdoor Recreation and Education).
