Volunteers needed: Schodack joint forum/ town board

1. We had an organizational meeting to plan for a Schodack joint forum/ town board meeting to address the recent 9 proposed new locations for a compressor station in Rensselaer county. These include one off Rte 9 near Maple Hill Road, five between Burden lake road and Hoag's Corners roads and 3 near pike's pond - rte 43 and 66 locations. The meeting was attended by 26 people including 1 Schodack town board member, Tracy Rex.

Fire quickly destroys Castleton home

CASTLETON - There is nothing left of the two story home that once stood at the corner of Green Avenue and First Street. The Fire Chief says that the one person who was inside the house when the flames began, got out safely.

"Once it gets going, and during the day there's not a lot of fire fighters around to do the work, it can spread pretty quickly," explains Castleton Chief Brian Schanck.

Castleton Fire Department is an all volunteer fire department. Castleton Fire Department is always looking for Volunteers to help in the protection of life and property in the town of Castleton. We have a junior fire fighter program that starts at the age of 16.

It seems a significant power outage in the Swan Street Building in Albany, which serves as the DMV Central Office, has knocked out computers in every motor vehicle office across New York.

Hundreds of gallons of gasoline spills at Port of Rensselaer

ALBANY- Several hundred gallons of gasoline spilled at a terminal at the Port of Rensselaer Thursday evening.

Firefighters tell us the spill happened while a tanker was being filled at the Buckeye terminal around 5:30 this evening. Things were quickly contained and most of the gasoline went into an underground tank.

A HAZMAT team was called in as a precaution, but no buildings or homes in the area were ever in danger. We've been assured none of the gasoline spilled into the river
