Girl Scout Gold Award Project “Pit Stop” by Skyler Misiaszek

For my Girl Scout Gold Award Project, I chose to purchase a set of bleachers for Maple Hill High School Track.

I exceeded my original goal by earning enough money to purchase two sets of bleachers. I have spent the last year raising the funds for this project through doing odd jobs, running a bottle and can drive, creating artwork and selling my artwork at Castleton Artisans Market, along with selling commissioned art sales.

After all this time and effort, I am so pleased to say that I am in the last stages of the project, which is assembling the bleachers and writing the final Girl Scout Gold Award Report.

Thank you to everyone who helped me along the way; my teenage friends, my family, the people in the community, and the businesses who gave me support as it was difficult to raise funds during the Covid-19 Pandemic. But with their support we were successful.

Special thanks to my advisor, Mr. Matt LaClair, Director of Facilities at Maple Hill High School and to our team that assembled the bleachers - Matt LaClair, Jay Beber, Perry Tomlin, Brian Neumann, George Isbester.

Special thanks to the local groups who supported the project:
  • Capital Saw Mill
  • East Greenbush Bottle & Can Company
  • Castleton Artisans Market

The bleachers are now in place at the track area. I hope that everyone that visits the school for track and field events will appreciate and enjoy the new seating.
