Main Street Under Water

The heavy rain covered South Main Street, making it impassable for drivers.  Two cars were trapped when heavy rains closed Route 9J  for several hours due to flooding and debris in the road.
Members of the Schodack Police and the State Police Castleton Fire Company assisted with road closures and flooded basements, while the Castleton Department of Public Works cleaned debris from storm drops.

Man pleads guilty to killing Schodack woman

Jason Guynup pleaded guilty on Thursday to killing Nikki Hart in December 2012.

It is a turning point for one Rensselaer County family. They can begin to heal after hearing one may say four very important words.

Jason Guynup said in court Thursday “I killed Nikki Hart.”
“He came in with a mission and succeeded in that mission he wanted,” said Ashley Hart, Nikki's sister.

Ashley is a big reason why Jason Guynup admitted that he's a murderer. She was there that early December morning when Guynup stormed into the Schodack home and killed Nikki Hart.

In Honor of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice

MHHS senior Sierra Pizzola appeared on WRGB news last night for her efforts to persuade the state to pass a law that would provide flags flown at half-staff to be given to families at no cost.

Happy Birthday Maurice Sendak!

Sendak's popularity came, at least in part, because he

respected children's intelligence and imagination. “You

cannot write for children. They're much too

complicated," he said.

"You can only write books that are of interest to them.”
