Roundup: Maple Hill wins Section II, Group 4 track and field meet

STILLWATER — The Maple Hill varsity boys and girls track and field teams captured first place overall in the Section II, Group 4 championships, which began on Saturday and were completed this week at Stillwater High School.
The Maple Hill boys finished with 127 points to take the championship. Other local teams competing included Rensselaer/Doane Stuart, which placed sixth with 56 points; and Greenville placed 12th with 14 points. In the girls competition, the Lady Wildcats scored 127 points for first place, and Rensselaer/Doane Stuart finished ninth with 15 points.

STRIDE Adaptive Sports’ Founder Mary Ellen Whitney to attend party at Fort Belvoir

(Rensselaer, NY)  STRIDE Adaptive Sports CEO and founder Mary Ellen Whitney will be among the nation’s most elite military guests on Sunday at the new USO Warrior Care Center at Fort Belvoir outside Washington, D.C. to attend a special Super Bowl tailgate party for Wounded Warriors and high-ranking military advisors. She is invited by the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral James Winnefeld, the nation’s second highest ranking military official.  Whitney’s invitation stems from her long-time commitment to serving Wounded Warriors through STRIDE Adaptive Sports, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1985 that works with youth with special needs, and veterans permanently injured in combat.  Whitney, a civilian, is invited in honor of her innovative efforts to improve the lives of military members through sport programs which involve youth with similar disabilities.

Pee Wee Wrestling


The Town of Schodack is pleased to announce the 2013 Pee Wee Wrestling Program to be held at the Maple Hill High School Multi-Use Facility (MUF). The program will be held on Tuesday and Thursday beginning February 5, 2013 and continue through March 21, 2013 except during the February break.

District to Start Charging Admission for Basketball Games


As part of the Schodack Central School district’s efforts to offset some of the costs of athletic programs, the district will start charging for regular season basketball games this year.
