Budget Woes -

The Schodack Central School District is working and re-working the budget for the upcoming school. Right off the bat, talks of cuts strike fear into the community;

The possibility of a 2% Property Tax Levy Cap Could Impact Our Educational Program with:
  • Higher student class size
  • Fewer course offerings and electives
  • Less instructional support across the District
  • Reduction in non-instructional support positions
  • Reduction of non-mandated programs and services
  • Greater reliance on the use of one-time reserves and fund balance to support the  budget
    •  While tax relief is always a sweet indulgence for politicians during troubled economic times, imposing a property tax cap will have significant implications for local school districts, which have already shed programs, jobs and even buildings for the last two years.

Volleyball Team Wins 2nd Class C Championship

Letter from MHHS Varisty Volleyball Coach Jake Colwell

MHHS Volleyball TeamFollowing a successful year in which the team won sectionals, but graduated most starters, we had a lot of work to do to live up to the previous accomplishments. From the beginning, our success for the year was ultimately dependent on the ability of Tyler Shorey and Brian Pulikowski to step up to the challenge of controlling our offense as setters. The improvement those two have show as setters and as leaders of the team throughout the season is immense. Brian was an easy candidate for team captain, always keeping a level head, and being a strong positive voice on the floor. Tyler's leadership and winning edge proved to be great in times of need. He really put the team on his back during the first round of sectionals against number 1 seed New Lebanon.
