SPDA

There will be a meeting of the Schodack Planning & Development Association (SPDA) on Thursday, November 15 at 6:30PM at Nassau Public Library (upper level) on Rte. 20 in the Village of Nassau. The public is welcome to attend and discuss recent developments in the town of Schodack.

Please park across the street in St Mary’s parking lot

Here's what's new at CPL!

Starting this month, we now loan a number of specialty items:

Fishing poles
Holiday and specialty cake and cookie pans
Home energy loss detector
Metal detectors for youth and adults

Borrowing any of these items is easy -- all you need is your library card. Just stop by our front desk and we'll be happy to assist you!

We're also proud to offer a new monthly program beginning in May! Our knitting group will meet the third Wednesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. Beginners and experienced knitters are welcome! A complete list of our May programs can be found below.

Schodack's new Super!


The Board of Education on March 8 named Jason Chevrier the next school superintendent.

"Working so closely with Bob for 11 years, he was a friend but also an inspiration and I learned a lot from his leadership. His personality, his energy, his innovation, his passion for education, and his love for family, those are pieces of Bob that I will hold on to, to cherish, and take with me as I move forward into this role," said Mr. Chevrier.

Lee Bordick Named One-Year Interim Superintendent

The Board of Education appointed experienced superintendent Lee Bordick as the district's interim superintendent at its July 25 meeting.

Mr. Bordick will serve for one year while the district conducts a search for a permanent superintendent, who will start July 1, 2017. Mr. Bordick will start on Aug. 1.

"I'm honored to serve in this role, following a colleague and friend and hopefully continuing the progress made under his leadership," said Mr. Bordick. "I know the school community is very strong and by working together, we'll continue that progress."

Mr. Bordick served as superintendent of Lansingburgh CSD for 22 years before retiring in 2007. Since retiring, Mr. Bordick has served as interim superintendent for Ichabod Crane CSD, Chatham CSD and Wynantskill UFSD. He also served as an interim principal at Catskill CSD.

ClassBook leaving Castleton?

Albany Start-Up NY company Classbook.com gets acquired
Castleton firm being bought was accepted into state program

Classbook.com, an online educational textbook publisher based in Castleton that is part of the University at Albany's Start-Up NY program, has been acquired by the school book giant Follett Corp.
Terms of the deal were not revealed.
Anthony Pfister, Classbook.com's CEO, was not in the office Wednesday and did not immediately return a message left on his voice mail.
