Schodack man arrested after Troopers respond to drug-filled apartment for fight

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday January 7th, State Police responded to an apartment in the Town of Schodack after receiving reports that there was a fight between unknown parties at that location.





  While inside the residence, responding units observed drugs and drug paraphernalia throughout apartment.

“THE ARTS ON MAIN” PAINTS A POSITIVE PICTURE"

Castleton-on-Hudson is a sleepy little village just south of Albany, with a reputation for having enjoyed its heyday long ago. But a small group of volunteers envisions vibrant businesses and streetscapes that draw people to stroll, shop, eat and have fun, with the majestic Hudson River as a backdrop. They held the Third Annual Main Street Day on Saturday with the theme, “The Arts on Main,” designed to help highlight Main Street’s potential.

The American Red Cross is facing an emergency blood shortage. All blood types are needed to help avoid delays in lifesaving medical care for patients this summer. 

Currently, blood donations are being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in. 

Patients are at risk for delayed surgeries or treatment.

Holiday and specialty cake and cookie pans
Home energy loss detector
Metal detectors for youth and adults

Borrowing any of these items is easy -- all you need is your library card. Just stop by our front desk and we'll be happy to assist you!

We're also proud to offer a new monthly program beginning in May! Our knitting group will meet the third Wednesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. Beginners and experienced knitters are welcome! A complete list of our May programs can be found below.

This week, due to today's (3/14) storm, trash and recycling pick up in the Village of Castleton-on-Hudson will be on Thursday, March 16 instead of Wednesday, March 15.

ClassBook leaving Castleton?

Albany Start-Up NY company Classbook.com gets acquired
Castleton firm being bought was accepted into state program

Classbook.com, an online educational textbook publisher based in Castleton that is part of the University at Albany's Start-Up NY program, has been acquired by the school book giant Follett Corp.
Terms of the deal were not revealed.
Anthony Pfister, Classbook.com's CEO, was not in the office Wednesday and did not immediately return a message left on his voice mail.

Business negotiates to move its headquarters to Rensselaer County

Dan Ratner of Healthy Brands Collective
The company wants to buy the former IBT Hamilton Printing property on Route 9J in the town of Schodack. It would renovate an existing 100,000-square-foot building and build another 40,000-square-foot building.
The property is on the market for $1.3 million.

Party to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Castleton, NY -- A fun, family-friendly event to benefit the Northeastern NY chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will be held on Sunday, November 1 from 4-8 PM at the Comfort Inn at 99 Miller Road, Castleton. Cole’s Rock & Funk Pizza Party is named for Cole Halvax, a Maple Hill High School student who lives with the daily challenges posed by cystic fibrosis (CF).

Village-Wide Garage Sale and Potluck Picnic


September 19 the Annual Village-Wide Garage sale begins at 9:00 a.m. and runs throughout the day.

The Potluck picnic begins at 5:00 p.m. at the Castleton Elementary School. Bring a lawn chair, cold drinks and a dessert to share. Hamburbers and hotdogs will be provided by the Castleton Kiwanis.

There will be live music and games. A family fun day in the Village!
